The Big Picture

As everyday citizens we ask questions like “How do I register my pet”, “What’s the history of my house”, “Which soccer field is well lit”, “What restaurants are opening in my neighborhood”, “Who’s constructing that new building”, “How can I get my driveway plowed”, “How do I report a graffiti”, and so on. Answers to these questions are most likely already stored in a government agency’s data repository, but are just not readily available to the citizen when they need it.

Government agencies across the US and the world use the Civic Platform to store and manage their data, and to streamline their operations. It is the Accela API that enables developers to build innovative applications that will increase engagement and interaction between government and the citizens.
